In the LX and EX trims, the high-output, 24-valve, 3.5-liter VTEC V-6 engine produces 244 hp and an equally impressive 240 lb.-ft. of torque, putting the Odyssey performance on par with V-8 automobiles. Yet it still has one of the highest-mileage and lowest-emissions ratings in its class.
In the EX-L and Touring trims, the i-VTEC® engine enhances the effect of VTEC® on the 6-cylinder engine by adding Variable Cylinder Management. This feature allows the rear bank of three cylinders on the V-6 engine to be activated or deactivated, depending upon driving demands, which, as a result, saves fuel while also decreasing emissions.
Working in cooperation with Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA®), the Drive-by-Wire throttle system replaces a conventional throttle arrangement with an all-electronic system that senses the throttle pedal position and relays that information to a computer. The computer then performs the actual throttle activation instantaneously.
The V-6 engine in the Odyssey meets California's Ultra-Low-Emission Vehicle (ULEV) standard for light trucks. Fuel efficiency remains a high priority, as the outstanding city/highway ratings of the Odyssey confirm.
Planning a trip? Lost in the suburbs? Either way, the navigation system is here to help. With up to eight gigabytes of memory and over 700 voice commands, it provides convenient directions using a series of 24 global positioning satellites.
With a Michelin® PAX® System on the Odyssey Touring, you can still travel on a punctured tire at 50 mph up to 125 miles. Its specially designed larger wheel contains a flexible support ring and a low-profile tire that even enhance handling. This feature works with the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), which continuously monitors the pressure in all four tires and alerts the driver before pressure loss in any tire becomes critically low. For more information on the Michelin PAX System, please call 1-877-PAX-TIRE.
Powered by the intelligence of i-VTEC® technology, VCM quickly and seamlessly activates or deactivates the three rear cylinders, depending on the driver's needs. So you get the best of both worlds: V-6 power when accelerating or climbing, as well as the efficiency of a smaller engine while cruising.
Working with ABS and electronic throttle control, VSA enhances stability by detecting oversteer or understeer, and by braking individual wheels and/or reducing throttle to help restore the driver's intended path of travel.
This system continuously monitors the pressure in all four tires and alerts the driver before pressure loss in any tire becomes critically low. The TPMS display indicates exactly which tire has low pressure.
